“Vote to School Project” Targeted Elementary and High Schools                                                                                                     <<Back to Info

The “Vote to School Project” started its early intervention by targeting 7th and 8th graders of both public and private elementary schools throughout the islands of Tutuila and Aunu’u, but excluding elementary schools in the islands of Manu’a.

The mission is to enforce its goal and purpose set by the “Vote to School Project”, with the hope that educating children at an early age will instill the importance of voting. In return, the students will hopefully pass the message to their parents and encourage their parents and families to vote.

In addition, the project is to educate prospective young voters on the importance of election in a democratic society: Voters Rights and How to Cast a Vote!

From January 21 through February 25/ 2014, the “Vote to School Project” successfully visited 16 public elementary schools and 8 private elementary schools. (See schedule attached).

Elementary and High Schools’ Count

The “Vote to School Project” has carefully collected and kept a count per school during schools visitation.  From data collected, 1,377 students from 28 elementary schools and 3 High Schools were introduced to the goal and purposes of voting for the months of January and February.  The numbers indicated in the count are students, who were present and filled-in students’ sign-in sheets during the day of the visitation.

Preregistration forms were also given out; however, it is the discretion of the student to fill-out these forms.
